my overflowing book stack 📚

yep.

my bedside table is always covered in books. some half-read, some to-be-read, some that i want to read again...books, books, and more books! since the start of the year i have kept a list going of all the books i've read. it's fun to keep track! what i have learned about myself is that i like to read fiction before bed (Amish romance! Christian romance! historical Christian life!) and nonfiction in the mornings.

here are some of the books currently toppling on my overflowing book stack:

// DEEPER MORE MEANINGFUL LIFE by Pastor L. Neisent. i just started this but it's a quick read and i'm so inspired! from the back cover: "Mundane moments are opportunities for treasured memories when carefully handled rather than carelessly wasted. This book provides practical help with simple ideas that turn the ordinary into the extraordinary."

// EAT PRETTY by Jolene Hart. i have read this cover to cover, plus referenced it several times for recipes and info. i'm all about eating for preventative health! "Eat Pretty simplifies the latest science and presents a userfriendly program for gorgeous looks, at any age, that last a lifetime. Eat Pretty offers a full lifestyle makeover, exploring stress management, hormonal balance, and mindful living. Charts and lists, plus nearly 20 recipes, make for a delicious and infinitely useful package—in the kitchen, at the grocer, and on the go."

// SHE READS TRUTH by R. Myers and A. Williams. i am looking forward to reading this memoir after going through several of the SRT bible studies. "She Reads Truth tells the stories of two women who discovered, through very different lives and circumstances, that only God and His Word remain unchanged as the world around them shifted and slipped away. Infused with biblical application and Scripture, this book is not just about two characters in two stories, but about one Hero and one Story."

// THE DEVOTED by Suzzanne Woods Fisher. my fave kind of fiction! i love this author and series. "Bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher invites readers back to Stoney Ridge for a story of dreams deferred and hopes fulfilled--complete with Fisher's signature twists that never fail to leave readers delighted."

// MATTIE'S PLEDGE by Jan Drexler. another fiction favorite! "Tender, poignant, and gentle, Mattie's Pledge offers readers a glimpse into Amish life in the 1840s--and into the yearning heart of a character they'll not soon forget."

// HOPE PREVAILS by Dr. Michelle Bengston. okay i LOVE this book and highly recommend for anyone who is affected by depression in any way. "In Hope Prevails, Dr. Bengtson writes with deep compassion, blending her training and faith, to offer readers a hope grounded in God's love and grace. She helps readers understand what depression is, how it affects them spiritually, and what, by God's grace, it cannot do. The result is an approach that offers the hope of release, not just the management of symptoms."

// SWITCH ON YOUR BRAIN by Dr. Caroline Leaf. another nonfiction book on whole health! i collect books on this topic apparently :) this one is SO GOOD i have highlight marks on every page. "Supported by current scientific and medical research, Dr. Caroline Leaf gives readers a prescription for better health and wholeness through correct thinking patterns, declaring that we are not victims of our biology. She shares with readers the "switch" in our brains that enables us to live happier, healthier, more enjoyable lives where we achieve our goals, maintain our weight, and even become more intelligent. She shows us how to choose life, get our minds under control, and reap the benefits of a detoxed thought life."

// PARENTING by Paul David Tripp. i thought i was done with parenting books now that my kids are 11 and 8, but NO! parenting is an ongoing thing and i am always searching for guidance on doing it well. thankful for Tripp's biblical approach to being the mom God called me to be. "Feeling pressure to do everything “right” and raise up “good” children, it’s easy to lose sight of our ultimate purpose as parents in the quest for practical tips and guaranteed formulas. In this life-giving book, Paul Tripp offers parents much more than a to-do list. Instead, he presents us with a big-picture view of God’s plan for us as parents."
