"mom, what is valentine's day all about anyway?"
i don't know, i answer my daughter honestly. and we shrug in unison because maybe we really do know that this holiday isn't about anything, really.
later that night, i repeat the conversation to my forever valentine and we wonder aloud what valentine's day is all about.
"i know!" says our confident 5-year-old. my husband and i exchange a look. we know this is going to be interesting. we're all ears.
"valentimes day is about love. and God."
i beam. my husband smiles, and corrects him, "valen-tine's day isn't really about God."
"yes. it. is." persistent little guy.
"valentimes day is about love, and God is love."
