what i'm reading

read anything good lately? these are the latest in my book stack:

Anything by Jennie Allen // this book... i couldn't put it down. i wanted to read more and more. i felt like i knew Jennie right away, i could relate to her, and i was inspired and encouraged and challenged by her. Anything is the kind of book that gets under your skin and makes you think. the kind that -if it wasn't a library book-i would have highlighted and marked all over the pages. i loved Jennie's story, the way she walked me through her prayer, and the way she dared me to pray just as big.

A Man in the Making by Rick Johnson // i am raising a boy to become a man, and i don't take that responsibility lightly. this is a great book with stories from men throughout history to illustrate ways to instill values and character traits boys need to succeed and grow into honorable men. i like that this book can be read in snippets, and that the strategies suggested are practical and easy to implement. this book will stay on the coffee table so my husband can also read it at his leisure. (available now from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group)

Autumn Bliss by Denise Thompson (@DeniseLThompson) & Lori Ramsey (@LoriARamsey) // this beautiful ebook is packed to the brim with recipes, DIY projects, home decorating ideas, and family fun ideas that really put me in the mood for Fall! there are 200+ ways to celebrate the season, with colorful photos, inspirational quotes and scriptures throughout. even though it's still hovering in the 95-degree temps here (God bless Texas) i am working some of the recipes from Autumn Bliss into my menu...Chili Nacho Casserole. Pumpkin Spice Granola. Turtle Caramel Pretzels...need i say more?! treat yourself to this $4 all-things-Fall book!

A Surprise for Lily by Suzanne Woods Fisher & Mary Ann Kinsinger // i am raising a daughter, and she loves to read. we have read the first books in the Adventures of Lily Lapp series, and when i told my daughter that a new Lily book was out, she squealed and skipped around the kitchen. Lily is 11 now! and it is an exciting time in Lily's life with lots of changes and a big surprise. my daughter (8) loved this book beginning to end.
