one of the first bible verses i taught my daughter to memorize was Psalm 118:24. i remember singing it again and again to help her remember: "this is the day the Lord has made, i will rejoice and be glad in it!" years later, there are some days that i still need to remember, so i sing to myself, "this is the day the Lord has made, i will rejoice and be glad in it!" rejoicing in the Lord somehow never gets old.
around here lately, the Lord used daily moments to gently remind me that He delights in my rejoicing. i am a thanks-giver and a God-seeker, and even when the day wears, i find Him.
in my parking spot at Target this stopped me in my tracks:
can you see it?
seriously.
later that very same day, i got my first ever speeding ticket. yikes. and yet i rejoiced, because i wasn't in a hurry. there was no emergency. i didn't even realize i was (barely) speeding, because i was having a great conversation with my son. (about blimps)
at lunch, this maine root austin-made root beer made me smile and think of my husband and thank God for perfectly orchestrating more family time together...isn't it funny how a soda fountain can do that?
we picnic'd at a new (to us) park with Granny on a beautiful May day, and how could i possibly keep from rejoicing in this?
my heart is reserved for these two super stars:
i was tired but wanted to play. an italian espresso coffee drink over ice was perfect on a hot afternoon at the water park:
i rejoiced, as in, literally danced a little jig, when i found nutella & go on my quarterly trip to walmart:
speaking of that trip to walmart, please pray for a little boy named Fernando, his Mom, and baby sister. God knows the situation; let's intercede, saints.
this happens every night. she's loud and it's annoying but this dog barks at the fireflies in our backyard. i can't help but laugh and rejoice! they're beautiful little bugs and i want to chase them too, Bambi.
that is my life around here lately. these are the days the Lord has made! let's rejoice and be glad.
Sing praises to God and to his name!
Sing loud praises to him who rides the clouds.
His name is the Lord — rejoice in his presence!
